During its 60 year history, Coombe Farm has always been open-minded about how farmland and farming should develop. We have moved from the days of horse drawn ploughs and heavy manual labour of the 1940’s and 50’s, through the 60’s and 70’s, when mechanisation and intensive farming seemed to offer the most obvious route for the future, to the 1990’s, when we took the view that organic farming was a much more obvious route for us to take.
Today, all of our 1500 hectares are farmed organically and we have encouraged neighbouring farmers from whom we buy milk to become organic as well.
